Year-End, Welcome, Celebration, and Farewell Party
We held the 2025 year-end party together with a welcome party for new Bachelor 3rd grade students, a celebration party for promoted members, and a farewell party for a member leaving soon.

The third-place match of the ECEI (Group of Electrical Engineering, Communication Engineering, Electronic Engineering, and Information Engineering) Futsal Tournament was held.
(We won at the quarterfinal match on July 28 and lost at the semifinal match on September 30.)
We lost the game by 1-4 and finished 4th out of 14 participating labs. Next year, we’ll aim for the top three, just like we did in the Ekiden this year!

The 59th Ekiden (long-distance relay) Race was held in the Aobayama New Campus. Fukami lab and Otsuka lab formed two joint teams (A and B). Out of 44 total entries, Team A placed 3rd and Team B placed 32nd.

We finally achieved 3rd place. Great job, everyone!


The second game in the group stage the softball tournament was held. After a fierce battle, the score was tied at 8-8.


We lost the match by a rock-paper-scissors tiebreaker.
We held an “Imoni party”, a traditional event in the Tohoku region similar to barbecue.

We deepened our bonds while enjoying Sendai-style and Yamagata-style imoni stew and BBQ under fine weather.


We had a welcome party for Antonia (Univ. Mainz), Victor (Dual PhD between Lorrain and Tohoku), Veronika (Czech Tech Univ), and Rishi (Imperial College London) in a restaurant near the Sendai Station.

The softball tournament 2025 just started.
We won the opening game by a score of 7-4!

The second match in a group league of the ECEI (Group of Electrical Engineering, Communication Engineering, Electronic Engineering, and Information Engineering) Futsal Tournament was held. Taking advantage of the rule of free substitution of players with a numerical superiority situation, we won the game by 10 to 2, proceeding to the knock-out stage.

We had a cherry blossom viewing party (“Hanami” in Japanese) with our lab members, which also served as a welcome party for new members (1 PD, 3 M1 students).

We held a farewell party for members who are going to graduate this March (Kubota kun, Kurihara kun, and Takano kun).

We visited the Grandeco Snow Resort in Fukushima Prefecture on March 1-2.


We all from the beginners to experts enjoyed skiing/snowboarding during the two days.

We participated in the 58th Ekiden race (long-distance relay race) of the Group of Electrical Engineering, Communication Engineering, Electronic Engineering, and Information Engineering. We came 4th out of 33 teams!

We had a cherry blossom viewing party(Hanami) with our lab members, which also served as a welcome party for new members (secretary, 4 new M1’s and 4 new B4’s).

Prof.Hideo Ohno, President of Tohoku University’s final lecture and a retirement party were held.
The final lecture was given in a hybrid, in-person at conference room of the Nano-Spin Research Building and online.
The title of the lecture was “Walking with Spintronics”, lasted about 70 minutes.
The venue was almost full of audience.Online attendees also reached the maximum capacity of 300.


After that, the retirement party was held at Sendai Kokusai Hotel.
The party was also great success.


We went to Inawashiro Ski on March 1-2.

We had so much fun skiing and snowboarding, including Prof. Fukami’s family.


Some of us enjoyed sightseeing around Inawashiro City.

We held a farewell party for members who are going to graduate this March( Abe san, Ota san, Shinoda san, Sumith san, Mochizuki san).

We held the year-end party together with welcome party for Aurelien and new Bachelor 3rd grade students.

We held work shop, “16th RIEC Internatinal Workshop on Spintronics”, in nano-spin building.
There were 116 participants, (33 of them were from overseas) and densely discussed “the newest spintronics”.

We held a year-end party with the member of Ohtsuka Lab. and Ikeda Lab.


and also, we celebrate the birth of Prof. Ohtsuka’s child.
Magnet toy was given to him.

and also, we celebrate the marriage of Samik(Assistant Prof.).
KYU-SU & YUNOMI(which are Japanese traditional cotainer and cups) were given to them.

We held wrap up party for EKIDEN & K. Watanebe’s predefense!

We held Colloqium camp with Ohtsuka Lab. at “岩松旅館“.
Ohno adviser also took part in the camp, and did very fruitful discussion.
Next day, we went to “Nikka whiskey factory 宮城峡蒸留所”.
