The 20th RIEC International Workshop on Spintronis was held as a part of the 7th Symposium for the Core Research Clusters for Materials Science and Spintronics and the 6th Symposium on International Joint Graduate Program in Materials Science and Spintronics.
61 oral presentations and 91 poster presentations were given and the number of total participants were 292.
Prof. Ohno (President of Tohoku University) received an honorary doctorate from the University of Warsaw. The ceremony took place on 13th November in Warsaw, where Prof. Fukami also attended.

Kick-off meeting for the Johan Åkerman’s lab was held, in which researchers/students from the University of Gothenburg (Sweden) and the members of RIEC, Tohoku University attended.
As a satellite event of the Intermag 2023, held in Sendai from May 15th to 19th, a lab tour was held. Prof. Fukami gave a tour for about 90 participants.
We will have Workshop on Interdisciplinary Spin Physics on June 1st.
This will be a fully onsite workshop at Laboratory for Nanoelectronics and Spintronics, RIEC, Tohoku University. Anyone is welcome to join free of charge with no need of registration.

Takeuchi (Assistant Professor) was awarded the JSAP Young Scientist Award for their paper “Crystal orientation and anomalous Hall effect of sputter-deposited non-collinear antiferromagnetic Mn3Sn thin films” [Appl. Phys. Express 13, 013001 (2020)]. The ceremony and Young Scientist Award Speech will be held in the 70th JSAP Spring Meeting 2023. Congratulations!
Professor Johan Åkerman, a professor of the University of Gothenburg in Sweden, has been appointed to a post at the Research Institute of Electrical Communication (RIEC) of Tohoku University through a Cross Appointment System, and has been named the “Professor, University Research Lead”.
He is going to head up a new laboratory “Innovative Spintronic Device Laboratory” and Professor Shunsuke Fukami will support the startup of the lab.
