T. Dohi (D3) has started a four-month overseas study at Argonnne National Laboratory under the Graduate Program in Spintronics (GP-Spin), Tohoku University.

Professor Hideo Ohno received ISCS Welker Award for his “seminal contributions to the materials science, physics of ferromagnetic III-V semiconductors and spintronics.”

T. Dohi (D3) is awarded the Young Scientist Presentation Award of the Japanese Society of Applied Physics for his talk entitled “Ferromagnetic layer thickness dependent domain wall chirality and sign of effective Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya field in W/(Co)FeB/MgO systems.”

Our paper “Angle dependent magnetoresistance in heterostructures with antiferromagnetic and non-magnetic metals” by S. DuttaGupta, R. Itoh, S. Fukami, and H. Ohno has been published in Applied Physics Letters, and selected as “Featured Article”.
In addition, AIP publishing has separately published a science highlight (Scilight) that deals with this article. 

We held Colloqium camp with Ohtsuka Lab.

Y. Takeuchi (D2) has started a three-month placement at Technical University of Munich within the Graduate Program in Spintronics (GP-Spin), Tohoku University.

Z. Wang(M2), T. Koga(M1), T. Funatsu(M1), K. Furuya(M1), K. Miyasaka(M1) attended “The 37th Electronic Materials Symposium”.

Assoc. Prof. S. Fukami is Awarded “The Magnetics Society of Japan Outstanding Research Award.”

We celebrated R. Itoh(M2), Y. Takahashi(M2), T. Saino(M2), C. Wang(M2) getting a job and K. Watanabe(D2) coming home from a study abroad in France.

Our paper “Non-linear variation of domain period under electric field in demagnetized CoFeB/MgO stacks with perpendicular easy axis” by N. Ichikawa, T. Dohi, A. Okada, H. Sato, S. Fukami, and H. Ohno has been published on Applied Physics Letters, and selected as “Featured Article.”

Assoc. Prof. S. Fukami is Awarded “AUMS Young Researchers Award.”

Our paper “Electric-field effect on the easy cone angle of the easy-cone state in CoFeB/MgO investigated by ferromagnetic resonance” by A. Okada, S. Kanai, S. Fukami, H. Sato, and H. Ohno has been published in Applied Physics Letters.

New Laboratory; Spintronics Group, Information Devices Division, Research Institute of Electrical Communication, Tohoku University is established.
